What's common among Zakynthos and Madagascar

I recently travelled to Madagascar and was amazed to find that a bird that lives in a small river (Ag. Haralambos) next to Zakynthos town was one of the main habitats of the Tsiribihina river in Madagascar. Ag.Haralambos river is a place in Zakynthos that is home to several species of birds, reptiles and plantation. Never the less it is a place well forgotten. Access to the banks of the river is more or less impossible. At the same time the people of Zakynthos have no idea of the rich and important nature which the river holds. EcoZante, in an effort to protect and promote the river for the society of Zakynthos, has began a research project and would like the Ag.Haralambos river to be transferred into a lessor park, which would include paths for walking and cycling, bird watching huts and even kayaking bays. The next step of EcoZante will be to organise volunteers and racing funds to actually implement the plan. It will be a tough project since the society has not yet realised the value of this river.
