Krioneri's walking route Krioneri

Krioneri`s walking route is a very easy and beautiful walk just in the sunburns of Zakynthos town. The route is along the coast through some palm trees

At the end of the route you will find an old Venetian faucet called Krioneri`s Faucet. Many years ago wells and spring water where not easily found in the city. Krioneri`s faucet was one of the few places with fresh water. Here, apart from the residents of the town, it was a favourable place for the coastal boats to be supplied with by cool water. Krioneri took it`s name from the existence of this Faucet. Krio-neri means cold-water.The water was coming from deep under the hill called the Red Rock. Unfortunately the faucet stopped supplying water after the earthquake 1953 and the tap ran dry.

Apart of the faucet at the end of the route you will notice an extremely cute church and just a bit further up on the hill a light house.
