Gerakas Beach
From above the beach you can enjoy an enchanting view, upon arrival feel the fine, golden sand in between your toes and swim in the shallow, crystal clear, warm waters. Gerakas is a beach with a rare ecological importance as it is here that the loggerhead turtles have chosen to lay their eggs and for this reason the beach is protected by the National Marine Park. You can't use your own umbrellas here as you may unwillingly destroy a turtle nest but there are some umbrellas and sunloungers that you may rent. The beach is located in a small creek and a large part of it is covered by clay, that of which can't be used for environmental reasons. Those that know this beach prefer to come in the afternoon when the sun is not so strong, having said that be aware that access is not permitted after sunset!
