Saint George Monastery
Saint Georges Monastery is located in the area Gremnon, well known for its natural wild beauty. Founded in 1535 it was once home to the notable Gerasimos Notaras, who later became the patron saint of Kefalonia. The imposing tower was built in 1561 to protect the monastery from pirates. Inside the monastery the beautiful buildings and well cared for gardens that of which are full of over whelming aromas from the many flowers seems to sooth and calm you. When leaving the monastery take the road for Ano Volimes and look out for a sign on your left where you will turn off and have the opportunity to enjoy the amazing view of the Shipwreck from above.
