The Museum of Solomos and Kalvos
The museum of Solomos and Kavlos is one of the most important museums on the island. It includes the mausoleum which houses the bones of the poet Dionysios Solomos, the poet Andrew Kavlos and his wife. In the museum you will see poems and manuscripts of our national poet Dionysios Solomos, personal items such as albums, books, and diaries, as well as portraits of him, his relatives and his teacher Martelaou. It also houses a rich collection of portraits of eminent Zakynthians and an important collection of icons. The museum gives you the opportunity to get to know these locals a little better and also gives you a taste of the culture that flourished on the island during this time.
